“Difficult woman syndrome was what my last therapist told me Borderline Personality Disorder was. Then he told me there was no cure. Carla showed me it wasn’t who I was that was the problem, she helped me see that I feel thing more than most people do and that just because I think something, doesn’t mean it’s a fact. Carla helps me feel like I’M not they problem, I’m just DEALING with problems.”

Personality Disorders:

Therapy for Personality Disorders—

Without the Judgment

A personality disorder diagnosis does not mean you’re a bad person. It doesn’t mean you’re broken, incapable of love, or beyond help. And if you’ve heard those messages enough that you’ve started to believe them, I’m glad you’re here.

Maybe your emotions get overwhelming fast. Maybe you want closeness but find yourself pulling away, lashing out, or questioning whether people care about you. You might be noticing patterns in your relationships that you want to change, even if you don’t yet understand why they keep happening.

You deserve a therapist who is willing to understand what’s going on.

I Want to Work With You

I welcome people diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD), Histrionic Personality Disorder, and Schizotypal Personality Disorder, as well as people exploring whether a diagnosis fits their experience.

If you’ve been turned away after mentioning your diagnosis or seeing “Cluster B traits” in your records, reaching out again can feel like a lot to ask. Finding support shouldn’t require hiding part of your history.

Working with people who have personality disorders is a part of my practice I actively choose and value. You don’t have to convince me that you’re worth helping.

Compassion, Honesty, and Room to Change

We can talk about things you may be reluctant to say out loud: jealousy, anger, needing reassurance or recognition, fear of rejection, feeling disconnected, or regret about how you’ve treated someone.

I’ll listen with compassion and be direct with you. When a behavior is hurting you or someone else, we’ll take it seriously and work to understand it. Accountability is easier to practice when you can be honest without being reduced to your worst moment.

Depending on what brings you in, we may work on:

  • Getting through intense emotions without acting in ways you later regret

  • Asking for closeness, reassurance, or space more clearly

  • Handling criticism, conflict, and disappointment

  • Building self-worth that feels less dependent on other people’s reactions

  • Recognizing relationship patterns and practicing different responses

  • Repairing harm while respecting your own needs and other people’s boundaries

You don’t have to arrive knowing how to do any of this. That’s part of what therapy is for.

If you’re looking for a therapist who welcomes the complicated conversations, I’d like to hear from you. Reach out to talk about what you need and whether we’d be a good fit.

“I have lost everything. It caught up with me. My whole family has left me and I didn’t think it could be my fault. My therapist diagnosed me with NPD and refused to treat me. Working with Carla is hard but she accepts me for who I am and helps me see how the way I treat people is impacting them and me. There are some sessions when I leave unhappy but I always learn something and I do think I’m a better man now.”
